Young Tennis Stars

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has been strongly working with young children and adults in their latest Youth programmes. This aims to bring more children into tennis, to socialise, have fun, whilst receiving structured, professional coaching!

Attendance and participating in the Youth programs have greatly been inspired by the successes of Emma Raducanu at the 2021 US open, and the recent ones of Jack Draper and Katie Boulter.

Boulter had a stunning run to clamp the title in San Diego last week, in which she beat world number 13, Beatrice Haddad Mia of Brazil, and top thirty player Navarro of the US. That was Boulter’s second career singles title, and the points from that bumped her up into the top 30, at a career high of 27!

Jack Draper also had a great run in Mexico where he beat World Number 17 Tommy Paul, and went on the the semifinal, where he had split sets with world number 10 Alex De Minaur (Katie Boulters boyfreind) of Australia. He was then sadly forced to withdraw as he suffered from a reoccurring back injury.

These two recent triumphs from the young new British players has really encouraged the youth programs that the LTA have been recently focusing on a lot.
